Homework for Jan. 11, 2011

1/ I disagree. If everyone was equal we don't have any more freedom, people cannot do what they want to do. If one is smart and the other is normal, how can you tell the smart to be less smart to get equal to the normal one? Study is the student's job, and it depends on who is assiduous and who's not. Similarly if a person is very beautiful and one is not, can you tell the beautiful person to be less beautiful to be equal to the other ??? Of course not, because that is their own face and their own body, that's what God gave them when they was born, if you are ugly, you just have to accept that fact or you can go to a beauty salon and have cosmetic surgery. That would be unfair if everyone were equal. If everyone in Vietnam were equal, it would never develop, people in Vietnam would get bored and move to other countries to live and have a better life.

2/ My laws are:
- Everyone should have education even if they are poor.
- Rich people have to pay taxes and poor people don't have to.
- Open free classes for poor kids.
- All the poor people should have jobs.
- Just have 1 - 2 kids.
3/ -For the less capable mentally, some people is not so good at studying or they are less intelligent than us, we have to teach them to make them understand it more clearly or give the example so that they follow our example. It is our responsibility to help our friends or families.
-
For the less capable physically, if someone is blind, and want to cross the stress, we need to help them. The handicapped who don't have legs or arms like us need help to carry things or write a letter, this is not too hard for you to do.
- About socially, if they don't have any friends, we just come and play with them, share our story, it will make them feel better if they have some friends to play with. Just think about yourself you will be really lonely if you don't have any friends, right ? Making people feel good is making you feel good, too, doing good things makes you feel proud of yourself and your parents will be proud of you, too.

4/ The biggest problem I see is unfairness. The rich people have to cover the poor people, they don't need to do anything, it makes them don't want to work and be lazy. Fighting is the second problem, it will have lots of divergence of people, some people want this, some people want that, they never have the same idea as each other, because they have to be equal, no one is the same and the third one is chaotic. There are people with different opinion, they think they are better than others, and they just keep arguing about those things, which makes the country chaotic.
To handle those problems, I will tell those people that, if you just keep on fighting, will that make the country better ? Will that make your life better or worse ? The answer is no, because the laws are from the government, not the people. Now, everyone are equal, we are the same, you have to accept those things, don't fight to each other anymore, it doesn't help anything. I know it was unfair so what ? You can't do anything. Just care about yourself first. It's better for you.
5/ I believe that human nature would make sure that some people would eventually dominate others. Everyone has the right to do things. What they have been given, others can't take it away from them. They can be very creative, smart and have power to make the world better in the future.

6/ I don't think I'm the same with anyone in the story. But I have my own experience is when i was young, i studied at a dance class everybody is not good accept me. Everyday had a new lesson and I always remembered the move in the same day, I'm better than everyone but I am good. Sometimes it annoying me a lot, i felt bored and didn't want to study anymore.

Tuesday Homework November 2nd 2010

1. How does advertising influence consumption ?
- If the advertising is very good, attractive to the people, but it isn't show any bad stuff of that things, it will make the people buy a lot of stuffs that they saw on TV and I think environment will lose lots of natural resources. It will be the big problem to the environment and people in the future, if we keep buying lots of stuffs. But if people can't buy any more stuffs, how can they live, and the demand of people will be lower. That is very important to people to buy new stuffs and that either make the environment be worst. But if people just buy enough that they can, it will be OK for the environment keep the natural resources sustainability.

2. Do you think citizens are sufficiently informed about the sustainability of our consumption habits? If not, how can we become more informed about sustainability issues?
- I think not, because everyday citizens act just the same, go to school by car, go to bathroom, eat, but they don't think about the sustainability habits, they don't think about their grandson in the future, they just act what they usually do. They don't think about sustainability, we have to tell them just use enough things, don't waste too much water, it will effect to their son or grandson a lot because in the future they will not have any water to use if now they use all of the water. We have to tell them that it is very important if we informed the sustainability of our consumption habits.

3. Do you think these advertising techniques influence what you and your friends purchase?
-
Yes, I do. These advertising techniques will influence a lot to me and my friends purchase because if the advertising is more attractive and techniques, we just thinking about the good things of that stuff and think that will be useful to us. We don't care about the cost and other bad stuffs, we just need to know that is pretty, attractive, useful, popular,... But if we careful and think about other bad stuff, we will know exactly which things that we really need to buy, that is the point if everyone know that and do the same.

Migration / Immigration Assessment

My cousin name is Tun. He moved from Vietnam to America when he was 3 years old. His family decided to move there for better opportunities of having better living. They have lived there for almost 20 years. His parents got a good job in there. His mom is an accountant and his father is a pharmacist. The pull factor is better job in America, the salary is much higher, the tax is lower, the house is more comfortable, the school is better and they can get more benefits from their company like: car and free accommodation. This is an external migration. He moved to another country because of his parent’s decision. The urban city that he lives is lively. It’s a very crowded. He doesn’t have any relatives in America. Life is better his family. His parents got a good job, and he went to a good school…His family thought here school was the best and have better education. It good enough for him to studied hard. He learned about designing. Now, he’s a fashion designer.

Some of the positive effects when he went to a new place are: good climate; the people are friendly, good food and modern technology. Negative effects are: he is scared of his new school because he had new classmates, unfamiliar with the area he’s living, foreign language spoken and culture. The positive effects when he left his country are pollution free, better schools and learned a lot of new things. The negative effect when he left his country is boredom because he had to stay at home the first time he came. He felt homesick because he missed his friends and relatives. He really loves to live in America. Only he wants to come back to Vietnam just to visit his relatives and friends.
